70 Years of “Chronicles of Narnia” Cover Art

Growing up, The Chronicles of Narnia was one of my all-time favorite book series. C.S. Lewis’ classic books are imaginative, memorable and enthralling, especially for fantasy loving-kids like me. As I got older, I discovered the more adult appeal of the books as well: room for intelligent debate about religion, childhood and the cliche of good vs. evil.

But I think what always remained consistent for me in my love of Narnia and especially the original book in the series, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, was the beauty depicted through words. Narnia and its surrounding lands are magical, wondrous places full of snowy forests, vast deserts and rolling oceans (that drop off at the edge of the world!) Through the decades, many different book covers attempted to capture the magic of Narnia. These are a few of my favorites!

I grew up with the 1990s version so I’m rather partial to it but I also really like the 1980s cover and the recent 2010s cover features such a lovely, approachable Aslan. Which is YOUR favorite?
