Every year in July, we host a summer movie night party. We barbecue, buffet and then hang a sheet up on the barn doors to project a movie after dark. It’s classic summer fun! Since the beginning, the party has been decorated in blue, green and yellow, everything from the popcorn bowls (including my fave Williams-Sonoma melamine!) to the napkins to the flowers, though the food and movie change greatly from year to year. Here’s the rundown of this year’s party:
Movie: You Can’t Take It With You, 1938
- Pasta Salad with Pine Nuts & Olive Tapenade
- Grilled Chicken & Pork Sausages
- Cheese Spread-to-Die-For, including basic cheeses, assorted nuts, apricot preserves, mandarin oranges, grilled nectarines (my specialty!), honey, crackers, baguette and more!
- Wine & Beer
- Ice Cream
It’s easy to host your own movie night party: all you need is a good projector, a sheet, some simple, delicious food and lots of great friends!
