Missing Maya Angelou

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Maya Angelou, American author and poet laureate, passed away this morning. I begrudgingly read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings in high school only to have it stick with me like I couldn’t have expected. It’s a moving, often uncomfortable and decidedly honest book that I’m grateful to have read. She was an incredible writer and we all know she’s going to be missed.
